The Global Renewables Congress (GRC) is a unique platform connecting current and former parliamentarians across countries and parties, facilitating peer-to-peer exchanges between and with Legislators on issues related to the rapid deployment of renewable energy solutions.
The climate crisis demands a swift shift to renewables, but many countries lack the policy infrastructure to make it happen.
The GRC envisions a future powered by renewables, driven by empowered legislators. We work toward this goal by facilitating cross-border, non-partisan dialogues where parliamentarians exchange knowledge on renewable energy solutions, exploring their technological, economic, and social benefits. Members receive capacity building tailored to their needs, alongside publications and support to amplify their work on renewable energy initiatives.
We collaborate with key international and regional organisations like IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency), CVF (Climate Vulnerable Forum), V20, and ParlAmericas to amplify collective impact in promoting renewable energy solutions.
Through collaboration with partners, the GRC successfully implemented a Legislators Dialogue Series at COP27, COP28, the UNFCCC Africa Climate Week 2023, and the UNFCCC Latin America and the Caribbean Climate Week 2023.
To amplify the voices of Members of Parliament, the GRC launched an impactful online interview series that shines a spotlight on their concrete actions and unique perspectives in driving the ambitious goal of tripling renewables by 2030.
A further GRC priority is fostering bilateral exchange for Legislators, which the GRC enabled during COP28, at the 13th IRENA Assembly and through parliamentary breakfast events at the German Bundestag.
Ahead of COP28, the GRC published a policy guidance for Legislators on how to triple renewable energy deployment by 2030 and beyond.
