Background & Objectives
As the global community strives to mitigate the impacts of climate change, renewable energy emerges as a pivotal solution to achieve net-zero emissions by mid-century. The urgency to accelerate renewable energy deployment has become clear, with the objective to triple its capacity by 2030. This ambitious target requires not only technological innovation but also substantial investments, strategic partnerships, and supportive legislative frameworks.
At COP29, Legislators have a unique opportunity to influence this transition by developing policies that attract investments into renewable energy projects, fostering international cooperation, and addressing the challenges that stand in the way of achieving this goal. This dialogue will bring together lawmakers, investors, and stakeholders to explore practical solutions and policy tools for tripling renewable energy deployment globally by 2030.
This Legislators Dialogue is a chance for Legislators to take meaningful steps towards a sustainable and renewable energy future. By coming together to discuss, collaborate, and share insights into their work toward a world where renewable energy plays a central role in mitigating climate change, securing energy sustainability, and fostering economic growth on a global scale to help prevent climate disasters.
This year, the Legislators Dialogue aims to:
- tackle legislative and regulatory barriers and identify solutions to overcome RE investment challenges;
- foster collaboration among Legislators, NGOs, CSOs, experts and stakeholders working towards reducing global emissions to secure a sustainable future;
- share knowledge and best practices in implementing renewable energy investment policies and regulatory frameworks
- generate momentum to drive the acceleration of renewable energy adoption as a pivotal solution to combat climate change.
